Riyadh’s smart cities experimental project is 80 percent finished, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs.
Final programming, enhancements and installments are being made in the project’s final phase, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, an agreement between the economy and planning ministry and SISCO was signed to implement smart applications at Riyadh’s smart cities, it said, adding that several workshops and meetings were held in that regard between the ministry, Arriyadh Development Authority, and SISCO.
The project includes smart parking, lighting, and surveillance cameras, as well as a site management platform.
According to data compiled by Argaam, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs launched the smart cities project aiming to reach high levels of sustainability through building smart infrastructure for high quality and self-sufficient urban environments.
The ministry has recently specified the projects that could be implemented till 2020 in the five chosen smart cities of Jeddah, Maddinah, Dammam, Makkah and Riyadh.
