Saudi Public Accountants to connect expat licenses with registration program
Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, is set to launch an obligatory registration program for expatriates working in accounting and auditing, Al-Eqtisadiah reported, citing Abdullah Al-Rajeh, SOCPA spokesman.
The work permits of expat accountants will be connected to the program, aiming to eliminate forged permits, and identify the status of accounting jobs and their non-Saudi occupants, in order to be able to develop Saudization plans accordingly, he said.
Al-Rajeh pointed out that the number of SOCPA members rose to 1,972 in the first half of 2019, of which 68 are women.
According to data compiled by Argaam, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, SOCPA and the Human Resources Development Fund "HADAF" signed a cooperation agreement in March to nationalize 20,000 accounting jobs in the private sector by the end of 2022.
