Ali Masrahi, CEO of Cluster2, said the company plans to raise the current annual airport capacity from 11 million passengers to 43 million by 2030, Al Ekhbariya TV reported.
The airport capacity increased by approximately 1.3 million passengers in 2023 and 2024, through the opening of three main terminals. These include the new terminal at Qassim Airport, with a capacity of 700,000 passengers annually, an additional terminal at Taif Airport (nearly 500,000 passengers), and Abha Airport (extra 300,000 passengers).
There are several future expansion plans underway, Masrahi said.
Launched on Jan. 1, 2022, Cluster2, a subsidiary of Matarat Holding Co., operates and develops the Kingdom's local, regional and tourist airports. It aims to manage and operate 22 airports throughout the country to meet tourism targets and contribute to the development of the aviation sector, according to data available with Argaam.
The airports managed and operated by the company include Al-Ula International Airport, Najran International Airport, Bisha Airport, Arar Airport, Sharurah Airport, Qurayyat Airport, and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jazan. This is in addition to King Saud bin Abdulaziz Airport in Al-Baha, Hail International Airport, Neom Bay International Airport, Taif International Airport, Abha International Airport, and Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Qassim.
The airports managed and operated by the company also include Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in Tabuk, Prince Abdul Mohsen bin Abdulaziz Airport in Yanbu, Al Wajh Airport, Dawadmi Airport, Rafha Airport, Al Jouf International Airport, Tarif Airport, Wadi Al Dawasir Airport, and Rabigh Airport.
