OPEC crude oil production rose by 150,000 barrels per day (bpd) in May, reaching 26.75 million bpd, a Reuters survey showed.
Output from five key OPEC members—Algeria, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE—increased by 180,000 bpd, falling short of the planned 310,000 bpd hike.
Saudi Arabia accounted for the biggest gain, adding 130,000 bpd. Iraq reduced output to offset prior overproduction and meet compensation targets.
OPEC+ is pressing ahead with plans to ease earlier supply curbs. At the same time, some members are required to make extra cuts to balance previous quota breaches, limiting the overall impact of output increases.
