Saudi hotels occupancy rates advance to 63% in Q1 2025

Hotel room occupancy in Saudi Arabia neared 63% in Q1 2025, up 2.1% from Q1 2024, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.
In contrast, occupancy in serviced apartments and other hospitality facilities fell to 50.7% during the same period, according to GASTAT’s Tourism Establishments Statistics bulletin.

The average daily rate (ADR) for a hotel room in Saudi Arabia reached about SAR 477 during Q1 2025, a 3% decrease compared to Q1 2024.
However, the ADR for a room in serviced apartments and other hospitality facilities amounted to approximately SAR 209 during the same quarter, up 7% year-on-year (YoY).

The number of workers in Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector grew by 4% YoY in Q1 2025, reaching around 983,300.
Of the total, 243,400 were Saudi nationals, representing 25%, while 739,900 were non-Saudis, accounting for the remaining 75%.

Riyadh topped the Kingdom's regions in terms of the number of workers in tourism activities at nearly 324,700, representing about 33% of the total. Makkah followed with approximately 273,600 workers, as shown in the following table:

Elsewhere, they represented 8.1% of the overall private-sector employment for the three-month period.
