Cryptocurrencies rose in Tuesday trading as appetite for risk assets improved, amid hopes of a US–Iran agreement to end the ongoing conflict threatening global energy and fertilizer flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
Bitcoin climbed 1.61% to $74,543 as of 11:03 a.m. Makkah time, trimming earlier gains after rising to $74,945, its highest level since March 17.
Ethereum jumped 5.51% to $2,378.42, while XRP rose about 1.53% to $1.37.
“Bitcoin is following the rally in broader risk assets,” said Damien Loh, Chief Investment Officer at Ericsenz Capital.
“Even though a blockade was initiated, the market took it as a positive that Trump effectively extended the time-line to make a deal and that he is reportedly seeking another round of talks,” he added.
