Aljazria Capital has maintained an overweight” rating on Saudi Arabian Mining Co. (Maaden), and set the stock’s target price at SAR 32.80 after the company’s Q1 results exceeded estimates.
Maaden saw lower operating and production costs during the quarter, which “contributed strongly” to net income, the brokerage firm said in a report.
Looking ahead, the Saudi-listed firm’s margins are expected to improve after commercial operations begin at the Waad al-Shamal industrial complex.
However, the investment arm of Bank Aljazira also warned that the company would likely remain “highly leveraged in the near to medium-term, and won’t have capacity to pay dividend in 2016/17 year.”
The company, nearly 68 percent owned by the Saudi government, has long term obligations of SAR 43.4 billion. About 25 percent of the loans are expected to be settled by 2023.
Earlier this week, Maaden reported a net profit SAR 168.9 million for the first quarter of 2016, a 35 percent year-on-year (YoY) drop mainly attributed to lower revenue and commodity prices, as well as higher finance charges.
