Sipchem’s polybutylene plant to start operation in the 4th quarter of 2014

Saudi International Petrochemical Co. will start trial operation of its polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) plant in the 4th quarter of 2014, the company said in a statement to the Saudi bourse, Tadawul.

 

The SAR 600 million- plant will have a capacity of 63,000 tons of PBT a year. It was financed by banks, partners and the Saudi Industrial Development Fund.

 

PBT resin is highly specialized thermoplastic polymer used in manufacturing materials used in automotive and electronics.

 

Sipchem will announce later on details on the commercial operation date and financial impact.
