US stocks end higher; Dow loses
US stocks closed higher on Monday, aided by a rebound in technology shares following last week's selloff and easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.16%, or 80 points, to close at 50,785.
The S&P 500 rose 0.30%, or 21 points, to 7,405, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.86%, or 220 points, to 25,929.
In Europe, the STOXX Europe 600 index slipped 0.15% to 621 points, with most sectors ending in negative territory.
The UK’s FTSE 100 was unchanged at 10,373, while Germany's DAX fell 0.58% to 24,616. France's CAC 40 lost 0.23% to 8,199.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 dropped 3.85% to 64,024, while the broader Topix index declined 2.45% to 3,852.
Brent crude futures for August delivery rose 1.25%, or $1.16, to settle at $94.25 a barrel.
US WTI crude for July delivery gained 0.84%, or 76 cents, to $91.30 a barrel.
Gold futures for August delivery were little changed at $4,363.40 an ounce.
Market drivers
Technology stocks, led by semiconductor companies, rebounded from the sharp selloffs seen late last week. Signs of de-escalation between Iran and Israel also supported investor risk appetite, helping lift Wall Street.
