Methanex sets April methanol prices for Asian buyers

Methanex Corp., the world’s largest producer and supplier of methanol, raised its Asian contract price (ACP) for March by $375 month-on-month (MoM) to $740 per ton.

 

Prices reached an all-time high, according to data available since 2006, driven by rising oil prices amid the Iran war and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Methanex's monthly selling price serves as a benchmark for producers and spot markets, with buyers typically receiving an average 15% discount on contract prices.

 

In China, the world's top importer, the spot price stood at $380 per ton, according to Argaam's latest data.
