Virgin Hyperloop One said the test track work on Saudi Arabia’s Hyperloop will likely start by 2020, Asharq AlAwsat reported, citing Chief Executive officer, Jay Walder.

“We seek to increase connectivity across not only in the country but throughout the GCC region,” Walder said, expecting hyperloop track technology to be deployed across the Kingdom in less than 10 years.

The company’s office in Saudi Arabia will facilitate the development of localized hyperloop supply chains.

In July, US-based Virgin Hyperloop One inked partnership with the Saudi Arabia’s Economic City Authority (ECA) to conduct a study to build the world’s longest test and certification hyperloop track, as well as a research and development center and hyperloop manufacturing facility north of Jeddah.
