New York-listed CTS Corporation filed on Feb. 18 an opposition proceeding with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property in Saudi Arabia to protect its valuable name and logo from trademark infringement by Saudi Telecom Co. (STC), CTS said in a statement.
On Dec. 19, 2019, STC launched a new brand with the rollout of a stylized “stc” logo, which is a direct copy of CTS’ logo.
“CTS promptly notified STC that its copycat logo caused irreparable harm to CTS’ valuable and established brand and referenced consumer confusion noted in recent news articles and social media following the introduction of STC’s logo,” the statement added.
Though CTS and STC have discussed this dispute, STC has not engaged in a serious manner.
CTS remains open to a serious and productive settlement discussion with STC.
