Saudi Arabia will begin importing Pfizer vaccine, in preparation for administering it to those aged below 12, said Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aly, spokesman of the Ministry of Health, during a press conference held today.

He added that studies conducted by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) on the vaccine showed its safety and effectiveness for such an age category.

Al-Abd Al-Aly also noted that nearly 22 million persons are now fully vaccinated after receiving the two doses, which will help reach mass immunity.

SFDA approved some days ago the inoculation of those aged between 5-11 with Pfizer vaccine.
