Saudi govt approves Executive Regulations of Contractors Classification Law

Majed Al Hogail, Saudi Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing, approved the Executive Regulations of the Contractors Classification Law, effective from the date of publishing them in the official newspaper Umm Al Qura on Nov. 26.

Under the regulations, the contractors classification certificate is issued electronically, and the project owners should verify the validity of the certificate submitted through the ministry's website. The certificate is granted for a period of one year.

The fields, activities, and degrees of classification are determined and modified under a decision from the minister.

The classification includes the following activities: construction and building, operation, maintenance and services, communications and IT, nutrition and catering, exhibitions and conferences as well as real estate development.

The classification fields should be in accordance with the National Guide for Economic Activities.
