Saudi Arabia and Oman announced today, Dec. 7, in a joint statement opening the first direct land link crossing between the two countries.

According to a statement issued on the occasion of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Muscat, the 725 km-road will contribute to the smooth movement of citizens of the two countries and the integration of supply chains.

Saleh Al-Jasser, Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, said traffic of passengers and movement of goods will be allowed on the road. Thus, the Kingdom completed the direct link with the other GCC countries.

Al-Jasser added that the road will contribute to the development of trade exchange between the two countries, which exceeded SAR 10 billion in 2020. In addition, it will contribute to achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services to consolidate the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub.
