The Transport General Authority (TGA) signed six agreements with major international classification societies specialized in maritime services.

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Bureau Veritas SA, DNV AS, Lloyd’s Register Group Ltd, Japan’s Ship Classification Society, Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK), and Italy’s RINA Services S.p.A, the TGA said in a statement.

These societies will examine and inspect ships under the Saudi flag, issue mandatory certificates and reports on ships, and provide services for ships or platforms and marine units in the Kingdom. They will also provide services for ships under construction in Saudi Arabia and provide any other services required by the TGA under the terms and conditions of that authorization.

The agreements aim to ensure compliance of all ships under the Saudi flag with the conventions and agreements issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Moreover, as many as 426 ships raising the Saudi flag are expected to benefit from the services provided by these societies.
