Saudi merchandise imports rise 25% to SAR 181.1 bln in Q3 2022

Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports rose by 25% year-on-year (YoY) in Q3 2022 to SAR 181.1 billion, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).


On a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis, imports rose by SAR 8.28 billion, or 5%, in the three-month period.

The increase in the Kingdom’s Q3 2022 imports was driven by a 106% YoY hike, amounting to SAR 9.13 billion, in its metal products. Imports of machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical equipment and parts thereof also rose YoY by SAR 5.92 billion, or 21%, as shown in the table below:

China topped the Kingdom's list of exporting countries, amounting to SAR 37.4 billion, accounting for 21% of the total value of imports in Q3 2022.


The US and UAE followed, at 9% and 6%, respectively.
