The Water and Electricity Regulatory Authority (WERA) qualified more than 106 contracting and consulting companies for implementing small-scale solar PV systems at all premises. This came after the regulatory framework of self-consumption renewable energy generation. systems was adopted in November 2022.

After the regulatory framework was approved, the energy sector worked with all competent authorities to complete the necessary requirements with other agencies and services providers to ensure the safety and efficiency of installing small-scale solar PV systems at establishments.

WERA was keen to increase awareness about the issues related to the financial and technical aspects of distribution system-connected small-scale solar PV systems, Al-Eqtisadiah paper reported.
