Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co. (Petro Rabigh) completed a CO2-capturing facility at its Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) plant, indicating the new carbon extraction facility has been opened in partnership with Gulf Cryo Co.

In a statement to Tadawul, the company said that delayed equipment delivery and safety-related construction procedures were the reasons for the project's delay.

Petro Rabigh signed an agreement in March 2022 with Gulf Cryo to establish an advanced CO2-capturing facility at the MEG plant, according to data compiled by Argaam.

Expected to be fully operational by Q2 2023, the facility is the first of its kind in the western region of Saudi Arabia.
