Jazan Municipality begins works on public bus service infrastructure

Public bus transport service project

The Jazan Municipality began work on the infrastructure project for the public bus transportation project in the capital of the region and its main cities, namely Jazan, Sabya, and Abu Arish.

The project includes nine routes and 47 buses to provide public transportation services in the capital and other cities. In addition, 84 stops will be available, and the service will operate 18 hours a day, the municipality said in a statement.

This is a part of a series of public bus transportation projects launched in several cities and regions across the Kingdom, which aims to achieve Vision 2030 by improving the quality of life and supporting the economic structure of the region by opening new investment channels.

According to data available with Argaam, the Transport General Authority (TGA) signed, on May 30, contracts worth SAR 103 million with Jazan Municipality for establishing and operating the bus network in Jazan governorate (Jazan-Sabya-Abu Arish).

Saudi Public Transport Co. (SAPTCO) received in April a notification of a project award from Jazan Municipality to operate the public transport bus network in Jazan governorate (Jazan-Sabya-Abu Arish) for five years, at a value of SAR 93 million (including 15% value-added tax)
