The International Maritime Industries (IMI) signed today, Feb. 12, an agreement with ARO Drilling (formerly Aramco Rowan Offshore Drilling Co.) to build “Kingdom 3”, a new offshore drilling platform, state-owned SPA reported citing a company statement.

The agreement aims to boost the strategic partnership between both companies, strengthen the future of the maritime industry, and unlock new opportunities.

This platform, the first offshore drilling platform to be built in the Kingdom, marks a historic milestone for Saudi Arabia. It also helps IMI become a worldwide provider of maritime services in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

According to Argaam data, IMI is 40.1% owned by Saudi Aramco, 20% by Lamprell, 19.9% by Bahri, and 20% by Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The company provides services for the construction, maintenance, and repair of commercial ships, offshore drilling platforms, and marine support vessels.
