Saudi Arabia, US form strategic economic partnership besides other deals

Saudi Arabia and the US signed today, May 13, several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and US President Donald Trump, at the Royal Court in Al Yamamah Palace, Riyadh.

The agreements and MoUs cover the following:

A memorandum of intent (MOI) between the Ministries of Defense of both countries on the development and modernization of the Saudi Armed Forces through future defense capabilities.

An agreement between the Ministries of Energy in Saudi Arabia and the US for cooperation in the field of energy.

A memorandum of cooperation in the field of mining and mineral resources between the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the US Department of Energy.

A letter of intent to complete ongoing work and enhance joint cooperation and development of requirements related to ammunition, training, support and maintenance services, system upgrades, spare parts, and education for the land and air systems of the Saudi Ministry of National Guard.

A MoU between the International Partnerships Program of the Saudi Ministry of Interior and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the US Department of Justice.

A MOI between the Saudi Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense on the development of healthcare capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces.

A MoU for judicial cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Justice and the US Department of Justice.

An executive agreement between the Saudi Space Agency and NASA to cooperate on the CubeSat project for space weather observation as part of the Artemis II mission.

An agreement between Saudi Arabia and the US on mutual assistance between the customs administrations of both countries.

A protocol to amend the air transport agreement between the Government of Saudi Arabia and the US government.

A MoU for cooperation between the Saudi National Institute for Health Research and the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the field of medical research on infectious diseases.

A cooperation agreement between the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) and the Smithsonian Institution through the National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, for environmental preservation.

A cooperation agreement between the RCU and the Smithsonian Institution through the National Museum of Asian Art.
