Sirens sounded in Jerusalem as Israel announced that it was under missile attack from Iran, with at least one explosion heard.
The Israeli military said in a post on X moments ago that the entirety of Israeli territory is under Iranian missile fire.
In a separate statement, the Israeli military confirmed it had detected missiles launched from Iran toward Israel, and the Israeli forces were actively working to intercept the threat.
The army urged all citizens to take shelter in safe locations and remain there until further notice.
Iranian state media reported that hundreds of ballistic missiles were fired at Israel.
AFP correspondents also confirmed hearing explosions in the skies over Jerusalem, similar to the earlier Iranian barrage.
An Israeli military official said in press remarks that “dozens of Iranian ballistic missiles” are currently on their way to Israel.
In addition, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) posted on X about an hour ago that Jerusalem had come under missile fire from Yemeni territory as well.
On the Iranian side, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a pre-recorded message to the Iranian people.
As the Israeli army attempts to intercept the missiles, Iranian media reports that Tehran has begun a "second wave" of missile launches targeting Israel.
