US President Donald Trump said that Iran expressed a willingness to negotiate in order to de-escalate tensions with Israel but noted that this move came too late, stressing that Tehran will not win this war.

Speaking during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada, Trump explained that Iran is now seeking a diplomatic solution after its nuclear and military facilities were subjected to Israeli attacks, according to Bloomberg.

Trump’s remarks came as media reports, including from The Wall Street Journal, indicated that Tehran was willing to return to the nuclear negotiating table, provided the US refrains from joining the Israeli attacks.

Israel recently bombed Iran's state broadcaster building (IRIB) in Tehran, following the Israeli army's order to evacuate the area around the building.
