German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Sunday urged Iran to return to the negotiating table without delay following overnight US airstrikes on key Iranian nuclear sites.
“Iran must immediately enter into negotiations with the U.S. and Israel and find a diplomatic solution to the conflict,” Merz said, according to a statement from his spokesperson Stefan Kornelius.
The German government has assessed that “large parts of Iran's nuclear programme have been damaged by the airstrikes,” Kornelius added.
