Iran has conveyed diplomatic messages to both US and Israel through intermediaries, expressing desire to halt hostilities and resume negotiations over its nuclear program, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Tehran also sent messages to Israel emphasizing mutual interest in containing the military escalation.
De-escalation is the only path back to diplomacy, said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the social media platform X.
Araghchi urged US President Donald Trump to pressure Israel to ceasefire, if he is truly committed to diplomatic solutions.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei revealed that the Iranian parliament is drafting a bill that could push Tehran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
This comes amid mounting Israeli accusations that Iran is on the verge of developing a nuclear bomb; claims Israel used to justify its latest airstrikes.
