Trump says Iran-Israel ceasefire in effect, urges both sides to uphold it

US President Donald Trump said a ceasefire between Iran and Israel is now in effect and urged all parties not to violate it.

 

“THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!” Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

 

His comments came hours after he announced what he called a comprehensive ceasefire agreement between the two sides. “This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t,” he said earlier.

 

Iranian state television also confirmed that the ceasefire had begun, following a barrage of Iranian missiles fired at Israel earlier in the day that killed at least three people and injured eight others.
