Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports announced today, July 1, a package of financial reforms aimed at enhancing fiscal stability and administrative efficiency across the Kingdom’s sports clubs.

Under the changes, the Financial Sustainability Committee will move from the Ministry to the Saudi Pro League, where it will operate as the Financial Oversight Committee starting today.

The transition is meant to unify and simplify regulatory procedures, help Pro League clubs meet financial rules, ensure faster execution, and improve professional management, especially regarding debt repayment and administrative system upgrades.

The Committee will continue operating under a new structure, overseeing all non-football sports activities of Saudi Pro League clubs as well as all sports within the First Division League (Yelo League), with the goal of strengthening financial governance and ensuring greater balance and stability across club operations.

The ministry also launched the “Club Financial Performance Improvement Project” to support financial sustainability. Beginning in the 2025–2026 season, it will monitor the finances of 16 Yelo League clubs, 32 Second Division clubs, and five Third Division teams, four recently relegated and one previously included.

The initiative focuses on executing approved budgets, controlling operating expenses, and limiting future liabilities. It aims to strengthen clubs’ ability to maintain financial stability and support sustainable growth in a more professional environment.

These reforms reflect the Ministry’s commitment to building a stable and integrated financial framework for clubs.

The measures support the growth and sustainability of the sports sector in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals for transparency, governance, and professionalism.
