US natural gas inventories rise more than expected

US natural gas inventories rose more than expected, adding 55 billion cubic feet (bcf) during the week ended June 27, exceeding expectations for a 51-bcf increase.
 
Additionally, inventories were 5.6% below the level recorded in the same week last year. However, they remained 6.2% above the five-year average of 2.78 trillion cubic feet, data by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed today, July 3.
