Gold futures fell on Wednesday as US Treasury yields climbed, with market sentiment rattled by fresh tariff threats from US President Donald Trump.
August gold futures dropped 0.45%, or $14.5, to $3,302.4 per ounce in early trading.
Spot gold also declined 0.3%, or $10.06, to $3,291.86 an ounce as of 8:48 a.m. Mecca time.
The US dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, was little changed, trading at 97.57.
Elsewhere in the precious metals market, September silver futures rose 0.35% to $36.89 an ounce. Spot platinum fell 1.4% to $1,352.46, while spot palladium gained 0.2% to $1,114.07.
Investors are now awaiting the release of the US Federal Reserve’s June meeting minutes, due later today, for clues on the central bank’s monetary policy outlook amid ongoing trade tensions.
