Saudi Arabia’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) added 1.5% year-on-year (YoY) in May 2025, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.
The IPI rose to 108.84 points in May 2025, according to the base year 2021, compared to 107.26 points in May 2024.
GASTAT attributed the growth to higher activity in mining, quarrying, manufacturing, water supply, sanitation, as well as waste management and treatment sectors.
The IPI measures the relative change in production quantities of materials and goods, tracking their transformation from raw materials to final consumable products for economic returns.

*Updated according to GASTAT data.
The mining and quarrying activity sub-index rose 2.1% YoY in May 2025, supported by a slight increase in oil output to 9.18 million barrels per day (bpd) from 8.99 million a year earlier.
The manufacturing sub-index rose 0.9% YoY, driven by stronger activity in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, which rose 14%.
