US President Donald Trump’s administration announced it will take a bundle of measures against Mexico in response to decisions by the Mexican government to cancel certain flight slots for US airlines and to force American cargo carriers to relocate operations to Mexico City.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that the department may deny flight requests from Mexico unless the government addresses Washington's concerns over decisions made in 2022 and 2023.
It is also proposing to revoke antitrust immunity for the Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico joint venture to address market competition issues.
Mexico is the most popular international destination for US airline passengers.
