US natural gas inventories increased less than expected during the week ending August 1, according to data released Thursday by the US Energy Information Administration.
The inventories rose by 7 billion cubic feet (bcf), below the expected increase of 18 bcf.
The total natural gas inventories were 4.2% less than the same period last year, but remained 5.9% above the five-year average of 2.95 trillion cubic feet.
