Walter Driver, Co-CEO of Scopely, said that the company has focused on building long-term gaming services, which has generated massive returns, with cumulative revenues surpassing $10 billion in 2024.

In an interview with Argaam, Driver indicated that the global gaming sector rose at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 7% between 2019-2024, while Scopely saw a growth rate of roughly 53–56% during the same period — about eight times faster than the global market.

He noted that adding Pokémon GO to the Scopely-Savvy ecosystem was a major strategic step for the company.

In addition, Scopely has already begun capitalizing on being under the Savvy umbrella. The company’s long-term philosophy and ambition to become a global leader in the gaming sector open opportunities for international investment, with a particular focus on Saudi Arabia thanks to its strategic partners who can drive the company’s success, said Driver.

The launch of Scopely’s Riyadh office in partnership with Mirai would not have been possible so quickly and efficiently without Savvy’s support. The strong passion for video games among individuals in Saudi Arabia is a key element in developing all aspects of the gaming ecosystem, which will likely drive the growth of the esports sector and the development of other areas of the ecosystem, thus strengthening Riyadh’s position as a global esports hub, he added.

Driver also stressed that Scopely has received huge support from Savvy, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and Saudi government entities such as the Ministry of Investment. He expressed the team’s excitement to be part of this journey and stressed the vital role of Saudi youth’s passion for gaming.

He highlighted that the company recorded over 5 billion hours of gameplay last year, with 50% of players active daily, noting that the company’s products have been downloaded over one billion times since its inception.
