China's Sinopec said on Tuesday it has agreed to provide engineering services for ACWA Power Co. to build the world’s largest integrated green hydrogen and green ammonia project in the Kingdom.

The project, to be built in Yanbu city, will produce annually 400,000 metric tons of green hydrogen and 2.8 million tons of green ammonia, using wind and solar power, Sinopec said.

It added that commercial operation of the project is slated to start in 2030.

According to Argaam’s data, ACWA Power is developing the green hydrogen project in Yanbu in partnership with Germany's ENBW. This JV will be an integrated project that encompasses facilities for electricity generation from renewable sources, water desalination plants, electrolysis units, and facilities capable of producing up to 400,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, in addition to a export-oriented station.
