The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Tuesday that the preliminary estimate of the Current Employment Statistics (CES) national benchmark revision to total non-farm employment is 911,000 lower than previously anticipated.
In a statement, the bureau said this represented a 0.6% annual pullback in total non-farm employment during the month.
It noted that the average annual revision over the past 10 years has typically not exceeded 0.2%, making the current decline larger than usual.
The final revision is scheduled to be out in February 2026, in tandem with the release of the January 2026 Employment Situation Report.
