Al-Babtain Power and Telecommunications Co. announced that its cybersecurity team detected an attempted breach on a server belonging to one of its subsidiaries in Egypt, according to a Tadawul statement.

In response, the company immediately began implementing its approved cybersecurity protocols and precautionary measures across all servers of the parent company and its subsidiaries.

Al-Babtain confirmed that one of the subsidiary’s servers in Egypt was compromised, adding that the targeted server was a secondary, non-core server for data backup.

The incident had no impact on the company’s data or operations, as the compromised server is not connected to the parent company or its subsidiaries in Saudi Arabia, the statement said.

The company stressed that it relies on primary servers located within the Kingdom.
