REGA says no plans to apply rent cap regulations nationwide

Tayseer Al-Mufarrej, Director General of Strategic Communication and official Spokesperson of Real Estate General Authority (REGA), confirmed that the Authority has currently no plans to apply the rent cap regulations— implemented in Riyadh—to other regions of Saudi Arabia.

In a post on his X account, Al-Mufarrej explained that all cities and governorates are under continuous monitoring, with market conditions regularly assessed. Necessary measures are taken when needed, based on market indicators and in line with government directives to regulate the relationship between landlords and tenants.

He added that the stability of rental prices and balance between supply and demand in the market support sustainable price equilibrium without the need to impose new controls.

According to Argaam data, the clarification came after Al-Mufarrej told Al Arabiya Net on Oct. 7 that REGA was planning to study expanding the rent cap decision to cover all regions of the Kingdom for a five-year period.
