Salama receives Shariah compliance certification

Salama Cooperative Insurance Co. received on Oct. 15 a Shariah compliance certification from the Sharia Supervisory Committee (SSC) appointed by the company's Shariah advisor, the Shariyah Review Bureau (SRB).

 

The key activities that were reviewed and certified are separation of accounts for shareholder and policyholder pools, as well as investments made by shareholder and policyholder pools. This is in addition to insurance policies.

 

The SSC will work with SRB to continue leading the ongoing supervision and monitoring of Salama with regards to the abovementioned activities and related processes from a Shariah perspective. It will also administrate the annual Shariah audit in accordance with the AAOIFI-GSIFI No. 2.
