Red Sea Global (RSG) opened the AMAALA destination during the inaugural TOURISE Summit 2025, stating that the investments for the development of the first phase totalled SAR 51.04 billion.
RSG unveiled six luxury resorts, an exclusive yacht club, and a global marine life center.
Upon completion, the first phase is expected to include eight resorts comprising approximately 1,600 hotel and residential units, RSG said in a statement.
Access to the destination will be via the Red Sea International Airport, which currently receives direct flights from Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, and Riyadh, with plans to expand connections to Europe.
The airport, currently under development by RSG, is scheduled to reopen in 2026 with upgraded facilities to enhance connectivity to the destination.
According to data available by Argaam, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced in September 2018 the launch of the AMAALA project as a luxury tourism destination on the Red Sea coast, providing initial financing and development support for the project.
