Saudi Arabia invested $200B in tourism sector since Vision 2030: Al-Khateeb

Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb said that investments in Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector have totaled between $150 billion and $200 billion since the launch of Vision 2030.

Speaking to Al Arabiya on the sidelines of the TOURISM Forum, he noted that the Kingdom’s current tourism infrastructure can accommodate 150 million visitors, in line with Vision 2030 targets, adding that the post-2030 vision aims for tourism to contribute more than 10% to the national economy.

Al-Khateeb highlighted that Saudi Arabia has over 500,000 licensed hotel rooms, sufficient to meet Vision 2030 goals, and said the ministry continues developing innovative experiences and new destinations across the Red Sea, Diriyah, Qiddiya, and other areas.

He revealed that Saudi-related deals announced at TOURISM reached $68 billion out of $113 billion unveiled on the first day of the forum.

The minister added that Saudi Arabia aims to make TOURISM a global platform for travel and tourism investments, noting that 60% of announced investments are taking place in the Kingdom, reflecting the sector’s key role in Vision 2030.
