Biggest commodity, service price movers in October

Average prices of 88 out of 169 goods and services in 10 categories in Saudi Arabia moved higher year-on-year (YoY) in October, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Local tomatoes were the highest gainer last month, up 16.62% YoY, followed by coffee beans with a 14.83% YoY increase.

 

Meanwhile, imported onions were the biggest decliner, dropping by 20.42% YoY, followed by local potatoes, which declined by 17.88% YoY.

 

Prices of 14 housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel items rose in October, while 21 others declined compared to the same period in 2024.

 

Elsewhere, prices of four pet products and other cultural items increased, while one item declined YoY.

 

In the clothing category, prices of four items increased YoY, while six others retreated YoY for the same month.

 

The price of one miscellaneous personal service and commodity went down YoY, while two rose annually.

 

Prices of three household furniture, appliances, and maintenance items fell in October 2025 versus October 2024, while the other one increased.

 

Likewise, prices of the three health services witnessed a YoY rise in the same month.

 

For transport services, one rose and the other declined in October.

 

Prices of hotel rooms and furnished apartments fell 3.66% and 0.14% YoY, respectively.

 

Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro packs was lower 1.56% YoY by the end of October.
