The number of Umrah performers reached 20.66 million in the first half of 2025, recent data from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Domestic Umrah performers accounted for 12.82 million, or 62% of the total, while Umrah performers from outside the Kingdom made up 7.84 million.

 

A total of 5.44 million people performed Umrah in the second quarter of 2025.

The total number of Umrah performers decreased by 6% in H1 2025 from 21.99 million in the first half of 2024.

 

The number of domestic Umrah performers also saw a decline of 7% year-on-year (YoY) in H1, while international performers of Umrah decreased by 4% YoY.

By region, Makkah came on top by number of performers, with 43%, or 5.6 million Umrah performers. Riyadh came second (2.3 million).

 

March recorded the highest number of domestic Umrah pilgrims, reaching seven million.
