Expo 2030 Riyadh awards contract for detailed project masterplan

Expo 2030 Riyadh Co. (ERC) awarded the contract for the detailed masterplan and design of public realm, landscape, infrastructure and utilities for Expo 2030 Riyadh and its legacy to Buro Happold to serve as lead design consultant.

This partnership marks a pivotal milestone that reflects Saudi Arabia’s ambition to deliver an exceptional and unprecedented edition of the Expo, SPA reported.

Under the agreement, Buro Happold will provide an integrated suite of services to develop the detailed master plan, focusing on the requirements of the Expo and the site’s long-term sustainable legacy after the event. The company will also carry out detailed design for infrastructure, facilities, landscaping, and outdoor space coordination, as well as provide engineering and technical support during the construction phase. This step will help ensure that the Expo 2030 site is fully prepared in accordance with the highest standards of innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.

According to Argaam’s data, Expo 2030 Riyadh master plan spans over nearly six million square meters north of Riyadh city, next to the future King Salman International Airport, to become one of the largest Expo locations in the exhibition’s history. It will also be linked to several key locations.

Expo 2030 Riyadh is expected to receive more than 40 million visits.
