The average per capita gasoline consumption in Saudi Arabia declined from 863 liters per person in 2023 to 838 liters per person in 2024, a decrease of 2.9%.

According to energy efficiency statistics issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), the average per capita consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased 2.4% from 87 liters per person in 2023 to 89 liters per person in 2024.

The average per capita electricity consumption in 2024 also declined by 0.6% year-on-year (YoY), reaching 9,644 kilowatt-hours.

The industrial sector recorded the highest electricity consumption rate among sectors due to the nature of its activities, reaching 4,149.24 megawatt-hours per consumer.

 

Electricity consumption rates reached approximately 17.6 megawatt-hours per consumer in the residential sector, and about 34.04 megawatt-hours per consumer in the commercial sector.

Meanwhile, total primary energy savings from energy efficiency initiatives rose by 23% YoY, reaching 662,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

 

Primary energy savings refer to the direct savings resulting from energy efficiency improvement initiatives.

 

Energy savings in the buildings sector amounted to 484,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (bpd), the transport sector (70,000 bpd of oil equivalent), the utilities sector (67,000 bpd), and the industrial sector (41,000 bpd).
