AlUla International Airport terminal expansion is aimed at accommodating the increased passenger traffic

Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Culture and Governor of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), inaugurated AlUla International Airport’s (ULH) terminal expansion today, Jan. 15, alongside Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and Abeer AlAkel, CEO of RCU.

The expansion aims to accommodate the accelerating passenger traffic and the increasing domestic and international flights. This is besides meeting the growing demand from visitors and investors, while also boosting tourism and economic development of AlUla.

The RCU said the project focuses on supporting sustainable growth, enhancing operational readiness, and improving the passenger experience, offering an integrated system for travelers, investors, and airlines aligned with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the Saudi Vision 2030.

The total area of terminal buildings has expanded by about 44% to 5,450 square meters, raising annual passenger capacity by 75% from 400,000 to 700,000, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The project is an extension of previous development initiatives, which included the expansion of the destination network and attracting international airlines. It also follows a recent agreement signed during the Future Investment Initiative (FII) to manage and operate a private aviation terminal, ensuring the airport’s long-term operational readiness.
