US stock markets are closed today, Jan. 19, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, with trading scheduled to resume the day after.

Wall Street recorded losses last week, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling by 0.3%, the S&P 500 losing about 0.4%, and the Nasdaq Composite shedding 0.65%.

All eyes are on the escalating trade tensions amid US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a 10% tariff on European countries as of next February. This move follows his renewed interest in annexing Greenland.
