BinDawood’s supermarkets and hypermarkets account for the largest share of its cash operating revenue

Waleed Bin Dawood, CEO of the Commercial Sector at BinDawood Holding Co., said the company’s supermarket market share is estimated at about 12.5%.

Speaking to Al Arabiya TV, he said strong competition is weighing on prices but also spurring innovation and enhancing customer service.

The company is working to boost supply chain efficiency through digital transformation and artificial intelligence to cut reliance on a single supplier.

Bin Dawood noted that supermarkets and hypermarkets account for the largest share of the company’s cash operating revenue, followed by rapidly growing pharmacies and other sectors that diversify income streams.

He said shipping costs have been relatively stable in recent years, though higher than pre-COVID levels. The company is signing long-term agreements to cut logistics costs and improve operational efficiency, benefiting price, value, and customer service.

The senior executive acknowledged that rising supplier costs are pressuring profit margins, but operational improvements are helping absorb minimal cost increases.

He added that financing costs remain relatively high amid global monetary policies, adding that the company is optimizing cash flows to expand cautiously without putting significant financial strain on the business.

On consumer behavior, Bin Dawood said spending has become more value-conscious, with a greater focus on reliable and healthy products, a trend that persisted through 2025 compared with 2024.
