ACWA said the green ammonia corridor will extend from its project in Yanbu to Germany’s Rostock Port
ACWA Co. signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW), Rostock Port, and VNG AG to establish a green ammonia export corridor from Saudi Arabia to Germany.
In a statement issued today, Feb. 1, and obtained by Argaam, ACWA said the new corridor will extend green ammonia from its project in Yanbu to Germany’s Rostock Port. Once there, VNG will convert this ammonia back into green hydrogen to be injected into the German national grid.
ACWA is currently overseeing the development of the green hydrogen and ammonia production site in Yanbu.
It noted that the preliminary design phase for the processing plants is progressing on schedule and is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
Commercial operations for the project are targeted to begin in 2030. Additionally, ACWA is evaluating opportunities for joint development and potential investment in ammonia infrastructure within Germany.
