The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has recently initiated several criminal cases, with legal procedures currently being completed against those involved.

In cooperation with the Public Investment Fund (PIF), a resident working as a project manager at one of the fund’s affiliated commercial entities was arrested for receiving SAR 2.17 million from two citizens (both arrested) who own a commercial entity, and another resident working as CEO of a different commercial entity (also arrested).

The payments were made in exchange for awarding a project to renovate one of the company’s sites to a commercial entity, in addition to enabling the two entities to obtain subcontracting works in one of the projects.

In addition, an employee working in health affairs was arrested while receiving SAR 500,000 in exchange for facilitating qualification and award procedures for two health-sector projects to a commercial entity, with a total project value of SAR 384.29 million.

Investigations revealed that the total agreed bribe amounted to SAR 10 million, of which SAR 4.5 million had previously been received from the commercial entity’s CEO (arrested). The employee then distributed the amount to the director of engineering affairs, the assistant director general of engineering affairs, and the chairman of the bid evaluation committee (all arrested).

Meanwhile, three employees working at the Civil Affairs Department in one of the Kingdom's regions were arrested for receiving SAR 850,000 in installments from a citizen (arrested) in exchange for illegally registering births and issuing national ID cards.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, a retired non-commissioned officer was arrested for embezzling SAR 2.16 million from funds seized in criminal cases during his service at a police station.

An employee at a municipal authority was also arrested while receiving SAR 300,000 out of an agreed amount of SAR 800,000, in exchange for facilitating and completing procedures for issuing licenses and planning sketches for a vacant land plot.
